Summary: MP3 discs sometimes play...overall okay radio/cd player
Comment: The main reason I bought the MP3 model( $10 more) instead of just the CD model, is so it could play MP3s I created for my father, instead of creating ten discs I could just make one.
The only problem is it takes the player a few minutes to read the MP3 disc and then play. It does not always read the disc especially if it has been playing something else and the unit has warmed up the plastic around the laser. Discs that it had played before may not play again... so this is frustrating.
I bought this for my 72 year old father, who mainly wanted a radio without static. The FM Radio has a Quartz lock on the frequency which keeps the FM station locked in so there is no static. The CD player works great and my father listens to his CD in his office.

Comment: As long as you burn the disk correctly (or according to the directions provided along with item), this portable cd player works perfectly. I used it to play 40 tracks that I downloaded to play during my son's birth.

Comment: I listen to audiobooks and Coby is the only one (that I know of) that will play MP-3 CD's. The service to receive this was absolutely great!

Comment: Purchased this for my Mother-in-Law, so she could listen to CD and MP3 (books etc). It's easy for her to operate and has good sound so she can hear it well. Comes with a power cord. Priced right.

Summary: You Get What You Pay For
Comment: First off, I bought mine to replace a similarly grey labeled cheapo mp3 boombox. Don't be fooled, unless you plan to spend over $50 on a boombox, you aren't going to get an audiophile's dream. That's what I knew from experience, that's what I expected. I listen to a lot of spoken word material, so I'm not exactly looking for Dolby 5.1 quality surround sound for $30.
The player does work well, though I've found the volume and tuning dials to be in an awkward location, basically behind the unit. Easy to avoid hitting accidentally when operating buttons and switches, but hard to find when blindly looking for them.
One issue I have is how it's advertised on the box as having wide range speakers. Nothing could be further from the truth. But then again, that's one of the risks in buying a cheap boombox.
Long story short, if you want something that plays back mp3s which you don't need to wear headphones to hear, this is your cheapest bet. If you want high quality, go with a CD or Flash based mp3 portable with headphones.
