Summary: Great litle player
Comment: I found this to be a great little player. The sound is good, and it is simple and easy to use. The grouping feature and backlit display are a plus. The only drawback was the ear buds. They are asymmetrical, and if you are like me then you will constantly be snagging them and yanking them off your head. I purchased a set of folding headphones instead.

Summary: Great Player, Great Brand, Great Price
Comment: I had some money saved up from my birthday and I decided that I wanted to buy an m3 player with it. Well I had knowen from pervious experience is to do you home work and to not rush into buying one just to have it. As I was looking around at mp3 players I figured out what I wanted and what I didn't want. I knew right away that I wanted a Sony mp3 player because I know that there a top brand name and I have other Sony electronics. So then I was looking at various sony players and I came across the e99(a flash player and a differenct one which was a hard drive player). Well I knew right away that the hard drive player was out because I didn't need a lot of space and I didn't want a internal battery. So then after more studying between the e99 and the e95 I decided to buy the e95 because it was everything that I was looking for. I will now tell you about what i see as being the pros and cons of this mp3 player.
Pros.

The Price: The price for this mp3 player is great, you get everything that the more expensive players have without having to spend the extra money.

The Song Capacity: Even though this mp3 player is really small(much smaller than the picture), it can hold hundreds of songs. In the Atrac format this player can hold about 300+ songs and in the mp3 format this player can hold about 100+ songs.

The Size: The size of this player is very small(about the size of 3 AAA batteries next to each other). This player can easily fit in your pocket or in the palm of your hand.

The Design: You might think that something so small would be hard to use, well it's not hard at all. Also the overall design of it is great. Mine is this light black color and it's really nice to look at.

The Controls: The volume and hold buttons are located on the bottom, Fastforward/rewind/skip(which is like a dial) are all conveniently located on the bottom right corner perfect for your thumb, the start/stop button is also on the bottom right corner(also perfect for your thumb), the group/repeat/menu button are all located diagnally on the front right, the battery and usb cable plug-in are located on the left side, with covers to keep out dust,The headphone jack is conveniently located on the right next to the play/stop button(this is nice because if you have it in your pocket than you can still get at the controls easily), and another thing that's on the right is a place to put a neck/arm strap so you could go jogging or running with it.

Battery Life: The battery life on this player is amazing. For Atrac the battery life is 70 hours and for mp3 it is 50 hours.

The Sound Quality: When I first heard the sound on this thing I was very surprised, because I didn't think that something os small could sound so good. The sound on this is great, nice and clear.

The Screen: The screen on this is very easy to see.

Play(repeat)/Display Modes: The play(repeat) modes and the display modes are really nice. This has 3 different display modes and it has 8 different play(repeat) modes. The 3 display modes are Laptime, title display, and track information display. The 8 play(repeat) modes are none(normal play), all repeat, single repeat, 1 group repeat, group shuffle repeat, all groups shuffle repeat, specified section repeatedly, and specified sentences repeated.

Sonicstage Software: I know that a lot of people think that this software is hard to use or organizes songs in a weird way. Well I find the softweare to be very easy to use. I also like how it organizes the songs, which ia by artist or album.

Groups: I like how this player puts the songs in groups, instead of all together. Some people may find this annoying but I find it nice to be able to find songs easier. Instead of having to look through a long list of songs you could just search for the songs that you want to listen to just simply by lookng for the group.

Other Nice Features: It lights up which is nice if you looking for a song in the dark. Keeps the date/year and the time which is handy if you need to know what the date/year and the time is. Shows the song/artist, which is cool because not only do you get to see the track number and song time but you also get to see the name of the track and who is singing it. Another nice thing is that when music is playing there is this little music note that moves and when the mp3 player is stoped the music note is stoped.

Cons:
Sonicstage software takes a long time to install on a computer( starting the software once it's installed on the computer is quick)
No case included
No arm/neck strap included

Well I've had this player for going on 2 days now and I must say that I am very happy with my purchase. Also this is a Sony, you can't go wrong with a sony. Wonderful product and a must buy for anyone who wants a nice mp3 player that isn't too expensive.

Summary: Degrading quality. Sony, I'm turned off.
Comment: I bought this mp3 player 3 months ago. At first I was thrilled with it. I loved the design, and the compactness. The thing that really sold me on it was the battery life claim of up to 70 hours. As soon as I started using it, I found problem after problem, and I didn't want to admit to myself that this thing may have been discontinued for a reason.

First off, the 70 hour battery life claim is total rubbish. I will preface this complaint by saying that I use only the best batteries. If you're using it to listen to mp3's, the battery life is more like 10 hours. If you want to get more longevity out of the batteries, you have to use Sony's Atrac format, and their SonicStage program. The Atrac format is garbage. To get the 70 hrs, they recommend that you load it up with Atrac songs at 64kbs. They claim that this is comparable to a regular mp3 at 128kbs. If you care about how your music sounds, you'll see that 64kbs is totally unacceptable. When ripping your music with the SonicStage program, you have very limited as far as the quality of the sound goes. The highest it will let you go is 132kbs. I think anything under 196 is garbage. I ripped several of my cds to the Atrac3plus format at 64kbs, to test the battery life and see if I could get 70 hours. I got more like 20 hours. I was completely floored. I tried many different ways to get the 70 hours and the most I ever got was around 22. What's more upsetting, is that as of late, the player has been giving me around 5 hours battery life, on brand new batteries.

My other big complaint is the durability of this player. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone, let alone anyone who plans on using it while exercising or generally being active. The plastic cover that wraps around in the shape of a 'U' is ridiculous. Dust and lint can get behind it, and good luck getting it out. Moisture also gets behind, and stays there. I accidently dropped my player one day onto the hardwood floor, and the plastic cracked, and I lost a button. That is absolute junk. I contacted a Sony service centre about repairs, and it would have ended up costing me around $70.

The other big complaint that I have about this player is that it uses USB 1.0. It takes around 4 minutes to put ONE album on the thing. If you're using it for mp3's and not atrac's, you have to use a simple drag and drop program that is pre-loaded onto the player. This program only lets you load 1 album at a time. So, basically, you have to sit at your computer for like 20 minutes loading the thing up. I suppose you could put all the music you want in one folder and drag that folder to the player, but who wants to do that every day?

Needless to say, I'm probably going to play baseball with this piece of junk, and buy something else.

Before I bought this product, I thought that Sony products were quality. Sony has effectively changed my mind, and lost a customer.

Summary: Best MP3 player thus far
Comment: I just bouth one. Main reason for seleting relatively expensive 512MG against other products in the market was Sony brand.
70Hr battery life is very impressive.
Size is very small so I can put my cell phone along with my MW player in my pocket (I could only keep my minidisc player in my pocket earlier)
You can also use it as USB flash drive to store your data. The application to add songs to the player is on the flash drive itself. It is tedious though to add songs through the provided application only. If you put mp3s directly onto the player it won't play. I guess that is for the copy right protection.
Wo cares. I just enjoy using it.

Summary: I love it!
Comment: I bought this about two months ago and I am thrilled with its performance. The sound quality is superb; it's hard to believe that it's coming from something so small.

I seen some negative comments about software that comes with it and that it's hard to use. Don't worry, it isn't! Some people have difficulty figuring our how to use "Notepad."

The only complaint I have is that the USB port cover is fairly delicate. However, I have very large hands and I have had no difficulty in opening it. One just needs to be a little careful. Other than that it is an outstanding piece of equipment.

Did I forget to mention...it is a lot of fun!! So enjoy!
